ISSOTL 2019: SoTL Without Borders: Engaged Practices for Social Change

October 9-12, 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States

ISSOTL Conference Pedagogy

ISSOTL conferences convene faculty members, staff, and students from across the disciplines and around the world as a community that fosters inquiry and disseminates findings about what improves and articulates postsecondary learning and teaching. This purpose leads to an inherently complex conference culture: participants with diverse backgrounds and common goals. ISSOTL conference participants bring high aspirations to do important work—to improve learning and teaching in higher education and to contribute to what’s known about meaningful student learning. We also believe that we are working together (or at least side-by-side) toward these goals. Over time, these assumptions have led to a conference pedagogy—an approach to knowledge-sharing at the conference—that is scholarly, engaged, inclusive, and collegial. Read More

ISSOTL 2019 will be held in Atlanta, Georgia (U.S.A.), 9-12 October 2019.

ISSOTL works closely with local hosts to organize and run each annual conference. Hosts typically provide intellectual leadership to the conference by articulating the theme, organizing the proposal selection/review process, and constructing the conference program in collaboration with the Society, as well as identifying the location for the conference and managing all local arrangements. ISSOTL supports the hosts by offering guidance, networking, and support, as well as supplying the online system for proposal selection/review and for collecting conference registrations.
