Report from the Publications Advisory Committee

July 2019

We are writing as incoming (Peter) and outgoing (Pat) chairs of the Publications Advisory Committee (PAC) to let you know about some important transitions.

As of this month, Katarina Mårtensson will be officially assuming her role as co-editor of Teaching and Learning Inquiry.  Accordingly, Gary Poole will be transitioning out of his co-editor role.  Nancy Chick will continue as co-editor working with Katarina for at least one more year.  A huge thanks goes out to all three of them for efforts past, present, and future.  TLI is thriving, thanks to their work and to the diverse contributions of the three associate editors appointed earlier this year.

When the time is right for another transition, the PAC will mount a search for another co-editor--to work with Katarina and the associate editors.  If you are interested in learning more about how the editorial team works, please consider attending the PAC open meeting during the ISSOTL conference in Atlanta this coming October; you can also contact Peter at pfelten@elon.edu.  It’s never too early to be thinking about possible candidates—and about your own possible interest as well.

Finally, on behalf of all of us who care about TLI, we want to thank Margy MacMillan—PAC emerita—who has provided leadership for the transition to the next version of Open Journal Systems, our open access platform.  This process—of many months, and twists and turns—is now concluding, and we believe that TLI readers and contributors will see significant improvements in the look and function of the journal.  Erik Christiansen, from Mount Royal University, will be assuming some of Margy’s duties as a new member of the PAC.

All the best,

Peter Felten, PAC chair, and Pat Hutchings, former PAC chair
